De'Janae D. Douglas
Founder/CEO
Born and raised in the City of Detroit, DeJanae is an advocate for education reform. DeJanae created i.C.A.R.E. with the intentions of changing the way in which individuals perceive education. DeJanae is heavily involved within the community and sits on the board for multiple community outreach programs.
De'Janae is a proud product of Detroit Public Schools (K-12). She holds a Bachelors of Arts in Sociology from Michigan State University and a Masters of Educational Leadership from Wayne State University. De'Janae is certified through the State of Michigan's Board of Education as an Administrator for grades K -12. She is also certified through the American Red Cross as a CPR-First Aid-AED instructor. De'Janae is currently pursuing her PhD in Educational Leadership and Policy Studies. She has over eight years of experience working in education, youth development, and community outreach. She has a plethora of experience educating youth, facilitating workshops and trainings that both engage and motivate the audience to grow personally and professionally.

Kirsten Miller
Board Member
Kirsten Miller is a native of Detroit and a proud product of Detroit Public Schools; she graduated from the prestigious Renaissance High School. Kirsten attended Saginaw Valley State University where she achieved her Bachelors of Social Work and Minor in youth services. Before joining the team at Avalon Healing Center; she worked as a Domestic Violence and General Warrants Advocate at the Wayne County Prosecutor's Office for 3 and a half years. Coming back to the community she was raised in and educating them and the youth was always a goal. She believes that no one has to be a product of their circumstance but they can rise above it and regain control.
Her motto is that it's not all about the journey but the destination.
